WEEK 6: We took a deeper look into clouds and finished up a "Missing Cloud" or "Cloud Crime" Report to demonstrate our knowledge and understanding of clouds. WEEK 5: This week Mr. Arvaluk introduced us to some of the big ideas around clouds. We will continue to build on this understanding together as a class. Parents and guardians, you can expect to see some science marks on PowerSchool shortly. WEEK 4: Today we designed wind tracking devices and shared them with the class and received feedback from our peers. WEEK 3: Here are a couple pictures from a PowerPoint we are working through as a class. This week students will create an analogy to help them remember how wind is created. Students were excited about this mini-assignment, and what a great way for them to focus on their understanding as well as writing! WEEK 2: This week we created mini weather reports. Students were able to demonstrate their ability to predict the weather based on the previous days events. We had a good conversation about if it is -16 on day, chances are it won't be 35 the next. Students were very creative in their presentations. We also talked about air temperatures, and students conducted an experiment in the classroom to test hypothesis' made. Students did a great job and are working on using scientific vocabulary to justify their reasoning.
WEEK 1: This week we talked about using strong vocabulary to describe different weather phenomenons. We wrote short creative writing pieces to help describe a weather event without actually saying what it was.
